What Kind of Soils Are Expansive? – Foundation Repair Tip of the Day #171

Wow! Can you believe it’s already Friday?
Today Brian’s back with another #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay and today he answers a question that comes up during the majority of our foundation inspections… What kind of soils are expansive?

Clay soils are notoriously extremely expansive. Clay will retain tons of water, then in a matter of weeks it can dry out completely and shrink drastically. Soils that aren’t expansive will be things like sand, gravel, boulders, or really hard objects that can’t be compressed together.

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
